Many people think that choosing a cycling bicycle is simple. Many people think they simply find the bike that looks good and feels comfortable. They're not exactly right about that, though, because there are more things that need to be considered when choosing the perfect cycling bicycle. With cycling becoming more popular in almost every area of life (transportation, lifestyle, sports, hobbies) there are more bicycles than ever to choose from. Using a bike as the main method of transport is quickly becoming popular. Some people have decided to take up cycling as a hobby. The following will explain how you choose the best bike for whatever it is you aim to use it for.

One way to choose the bike that fits you is to sit on the bike and see if your feet will rest flat on the floor, in case you need to stop yourself. There are certain professionals, though, who disagree with this concept. It is their belief, that your time on your bicycle will be much more comfortable, if you allow your feet to remain several inches off the ground. If your feet are on the ground and your knees are bent when you sit on the seat of the bike, it generally means that the seat is sitting too low for you and too close to the crossbar. This is because when you are pedaling with this bike, your knees are going to come up too high. You shouldn't ever sit the seat at the lowest setting, which means sitting on the crossbar. You always want to bring the seat up at least a few inches when you begin to ride, so keep this in mind when you are picking your bike. When you bring the seat up a few inches, you are going to have more room between the crossbar and you, and this will make for a much more comfortable ride. The best way to adjust is this way, place your foot on the pedal at the view it now lowest setting, then extend your leg almost fully, and adjust your seat to accommodate.

Be certain to leave adequate room between yourself and your bikes crossbar. When browsing for a bike try some out, make sure the seat is a few inches above the crossbar. You should be able to still rest your feet flat on the floor. Each type of bike requires different clearances. As an example, with a touring bike you will only require around 1". With a mountain bike however you will need some more, 3 inches should suffice.

Your main priority is the physical fit of your bike. That is the primary goal of anyone who chooses cycling as their primary form of transportation. Safety is important when on a bike but do not overlook comfort, otherwise those long rides will soon grow tiresome.
